Indian economy grew 8.7% in 2021-22

India’s gross domestic product grew at 8.7% in 2021-’22 as against a contraction of 6.6% during the last financial year, showed government data released on Tuesday. The country registered gross domestic product, or GDP, growth of 4.1% in the fourth (January-March) quarter, according to the National Statistical Office. The country’s GDP had risen by 5.4% in the third (October-December) quarter. The GDP for 2021-’22 is less than the 8.9% estimated by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, NDTV reported. In October, the Reserve Bank of India had predicted that the Indian economy would grow by 9.5% in 2021-2022. However, in January, the International Monetary Fund slashed its growth forecast for India in 2021-’22 to 9% from the earlier estimate of 9.5%, according to The Times of India. PM participates in ‘Garib Kalyan Sammelan’ in Shimla

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Shimla on Tuesday to participate in the ‘Garib Kalyan Sammelan’ and release the 11th instalment of financial benefit under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. People showered flower petals on PM Modi’s cavalcade en route to Ridge Maidan in Shimla. A ccording to Prime Minister’s Office, the Sammelan conceptualizes elected public representatives across the country directly interacting with the public in an endeavour to get feedback about the various welfare programmes being run by the government. During the Sammelan, Prime Minister will directly interact with the beneficiaries of different programmes of nine Ministries/Departments of the Government of India. Monkey pox spreading all over the world.

NEW DELHI: The Union health ministry on Tuesday issued guidelines for management of monkeypox although India has not reported any case of the disease yet. Officials said the norms had been issued to ensure preparedness to deal with any potential crisis. The ministry said even one case is to be considered an outbreak. It should trigger a detailed probe by rapid response teams that need to be initiated through the integrated disease surveillance programme. It directed all states and UTs to report any suspected case immediately to the state and central surveillance unit, which shall report the same to the health ministry. The norms said contacts of a confirmed case should be monitored daily for onset of symptoms for 21 days. The directive follows a meeting in Delhi last week attended by experts, among others, from ICMR, NIV, National Centre for Disease Control, and AIIMS. a person suffering from  Monkeypox.
